Neuro nanomedicine an up-to-date overview

Applications of Nanomedicine in Neurology in UNIMIB give novel technological wonders such as nanotubes, nanowires, miniature robots, nanospheres, implantable biomedical devices, carbon-based nanotubes which can be useful for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes (known as theranostics), as well as nanomaterials for tissue regeneration. Since its discovery in the early 1960s, nanomedicine has created high expectations, and nanotechnology has been expected to reinforce the current medical armament in clinical oncology. Unfortunately, many of these expectations have not been realized. In this review, we will attempt to analyze the present status of nanooncology.

We define nanomedicines as therapeutic or imaging agents which comprise a nanoparticle in order to control the biodistribution, enhance the efficacy, or otherwise reduce toxicity of a drug or biologic.
